Artist Statement
Art is the opportunity to capture and celebrate what I see as beautiful in the world. I am often inspired by nature. My paintings are texture rich and infused with color built from layers within the main composition. Through de-constructive and building processes each canvas becomes its own story. My goal is for the viewer to contemplate the nuances and unique qualities of the moment. Layers, depth, and components are to be appreciated, but not to define the whole image. The common thread for my work is the creativity joining representational, raw, and abstract elements.
Bio
Delphine was always creative in her youth, but it was always secondary to other goals and dreams. After she was faced with her diagnosis of the chronic illness Lupus in 1992, she began to work on her craft and discover her artistic voice. Art has been a big part of her life ever since. Delphine enjoys painting in a style that has lots of texture, layers and depth... in her expression to pause and celebrate the blessings in each moment.
She has been selling and doing commission work for 20 years. Delphine is an active volunteer in the art community. She works with the Wake Forest Guild of Artists and recently served as the chair for the Wake Forest Public Arts Commission.
